| MSAFE Class II-B2 Biological Safety Cabinets are designed with safety, ease of use, user comfort and ease of maintenance in mind. | ||||||||||
| D.O.P. test port supplied as standard | ||||||||||
| HEPA filters can be replaced easily and quickly | ||||||||||
| The easily accessible control system is located outside the contaminated area. | ||||||||||
| Cleaning the inside of the glass sash requires no extra effort or time | ||||||||||
| The automatic sash opens fully and stays in place for easy cleaning | ||||||||||
| The frameless front sash maximises the field of view, and both its front and rear faces are easily accessible for cleaning. The sash is made of 6 mm tempered shatterproof glass. There is no permanent abrasion/etching on the glass. | ||||||||||
| All operations are performed automatically, so no adjustment is required by the user. | ||||||||||
| Noise level is very low thanks to the quiet-running fan. | ||||||||||
| Apart from the fan motor and filters, all components are located outside the contaminated air zones to facilitate servicing without the need to decontaminate the cabinet. | ||||||||||
| The unit is supplied complete with its original standard accessories and the specific tools required for servicing. Any spare parts and accessories needed to extend the unit’s functions and for use during testing are also supplied with the unit free of charge. | ||||||||||
| The cabinet is designed to optimise user comfort, reduce glare and maximise access to the work area. Its design also ensures that the air at the front intake grilles is not obstructed by personnel during operation. |
| HEPA FILTER | HEPA-type filter that retains particles larger than 0.3 micron. Minimum efficiency is 99.999% (according to the D.O.P. test). Decontamination factor (F) is minimum 100,000. H14 class filters are protected by a metal diffuser. | ||||||||||
| WORK CABINET | 2 mm cold-rolled DKP steel with epoxy electrostatic powder coating. The base cabinet is either mobile and removable or a fixed system with metal doors. Hose-tipped gas and water outlet nozzles inside the cabinet, heavy and light gas adjustment panel, interior fluorescent lighting, and a hood section designed in accordance with airflow physics. The side walls are closed, airtight against leakage to the outside, and there are no surfaces on which contaminants could accumulate. Maximum protection is ensured by negative pressure. | ||||||||||
| WORK SURFACE | Removable perforated AISI 304 stainless steel, sectional tray type. The work tray has rounded corners, consists of no more than 4 pieces, is crevice-free, removable and made of stainless steel. | ||||||||||
| PRE-FILTER, MAIN FILTER | Synthetic fibre-based filter. It extends the life of the HEPA filter by filtering particles from the air reaching the HEPA filter. An H14 HEPA filter is used. A ULPA filter is used. | ||||||||||
| FAN | Two ECM-type or DC-type motor fans are used. In accordance with standards, the cabinet has a permanently lubricated centrifugal or direct-drive fan/motor, dynamically balanced on two planes for low noise, low vibration and long service life. A latest-generation energy-efficient fan is used, capable of maintaining constant airflow despite building voltage fluctuations. The fan motors used in the unit have an external or integrated rotor design. The fan motor used in the unit compensates for filter loading or features an automatic responsive filter compensation system. | ||||||||||
| LIGHTING | A low-power, high-intensity 1290 lux fluorescent lamp and a UV lamp are used. The fluorescent lamps are mounted behind the control panel module, outside the work zone. Electronic ballasts are used to eliminate light flicker, extend lamp life, reduce heat emission and create a shadow-free, glare-free work area. Alternatively, the work area is illuminated with uniform, shadow-free and glare-free light that does not strain the eyes. Illumination intensity of the unit is at least 750 lux. The UV lamp operates with an automatic cut-off timer managed by the microprocessor control unit and, for safety, is interlocked with the fan/motor and fluorescent lamps. | ||||||||||
| PAINT | After cleaning with special solvents, metal parts are coated with epoxy electrostatic powder paint and cured at 200ºC. Alternatively, a fully stainless steel version is available on request. | ||||||||||
| NOISE LEVEL | Below 65 dB | ||||||||||
| STANDARD ACCESSORIES | Support stand with legs, UV lamp, filter life counter, air and gas taps. Gas flow can be stopped automatically in the event of a gas leak. The unit has 2 IP 54-protected earthed power sockets. | ||||||||||
| OPTIONS | Fully stainless steel interior chamber / gas and water valve / sink / cabinet | ||||||||||
| INSTALLED POWER | 220 Volt 50Hz | ||||||||||
| AIRFLOW CONTROL | Microprocessor-controlled with LCD display | ||||||||||
| FRONT SASH | The front sash is either motorised, so that it can easily be moved to the working position with a single touch, or non-motorised with a fixed system set at a suitable working position. The frameless front sash maximises the field of view, and both its front and rear faces are easily accessible for cleaning. The sash is made of 6 mm tempered shatterproof glass. There is no permanent abrasion/etching on the glass. | ||||||||||
| OTHER TECHNICAL FEATURES | Manufactured to suit user requirements and laboratory conditions. The unit has an audible and visual alarm system, which alerts the user with light and sound signals whenever a problem occurs in any of the safety-related parameters (inflow and downflow velocity), front sash, filter, UV lamp, etc. The air supplied into the cabinet through the main filter is fully laminar across the entire work surface, and absolutely no turbulence occurs during the smoke test. Instead of pressure sensors, the cabinet uses electronic airflow sensors with static thermo-anemometers to determine airflow velocity. The unit’s original fittings bearing the manufacturer’s emblem (table, etc.) are supplied with the unit free of charge. | ||||||||||
A Class II cabinet is defined as a ventilated cabinet for personnel, product and environmental protection, typically used for microbiological or chemotherapy work. In some laboratories these cabinets are referred to as cell culture or tissue culture hoods. Class II BSCs are designed with an open front featuring inward airflow (personnel protection), downward HEPA-filtered laminar airflow (product protection) and HEPA-filtered exhaust air (environmental protection). All Class II BSCs require that all biologically contaminated ducts and plenums are under negative pressure or surrounded by negative-pressure ducts and plenums. This provides a fail-safe feature that protects the user even in the event of a malfunction.
CLASS II TYPE A2 BIOLOGICAL SAFETY CABINETS (EN 12469 CERTIFIED)
Class II Type A2 biological safety cabinets are the most common type of BSC in use today. Type A2 cabinets must maintain a minimum average inflow velocity of 0.40 m/s through the sash opening. Part of the incoming air is exhausted from the cabinet, while the remainder is recirculated within the cabinet. Type A2 BSCs usually return the HEPA-filtered air to the laboratory in which they are installed. The recirculated, HEPA-filtered laminar airflow creates an environment that protects samples from contamination within the work area. The laminar (unidirectional) downflow air helps to prevent cross-contamination within the cabinet and between samples.
ADVANCED CONTROL DISPLAY
The control panel features a touch-screen digital/LCD display.
